lol if you find any good employees I am also looking ;) And the chart is a good idea! I will have to put some thought into it....they want an allowence, but I really think they should do things without being paid....I know I do lol Thanks for the idea!

One of the first responders on here was giving me smurf at first... And come to find out shes a sahm of one kid. I think thats where the mix up came in.
Your comments have been helpful.

I worked as an assistant store manager of a large retailer for about 2 years... Hubby stayed home with the kids. So.. he should know how i feel but i think he forgets. It WAS hard working 12 to 14 hours a day then coming home and doing what needed to be done. I for sure give props to working moms. But i envy them too for the adult interaction they get. Oh how i wish i had that sometimes

Yeah. I agree with you there. The adult interaction would be nice. My SO hardly talks to me when he gets home...I know he is tired...he would rather be on the internet   I was thinking on going back to work....

Yeah I would never put up with my SO not helping. That's why I feel really feel bad for OP because she deserves ALOT of help. And I don't understand men that think just because they work they don't have to help at home too. I mean at least with working you can get out of the house for awhile, socialize depending on your job, and just have a little "break" from the kids....it's sad that I'm even calling work a break but whatever lol

I never got an allowance when i was a kid. I had a "spending account". My stepdad would put money in this "account" for when i did extra stuff around the house... Got good grades.. had a bday... Whatever. But they never paid me to keep my room clean or help with dishes or anything. And i explained to my kids that i dont get paid for cooking their meals so they shouldnt get paid to help load the dishwasher. Lol

I DO have a reward box too. So... Ill get stuff like magazines or pens or whaever they like and they get to choose a reward if they do something extra helpful or if they are responsible all week. Its worked out great in the past.

I think I am going to sit down this week and do a chart. We buy like discounted toys and such to have on hand...we did it if they were good from time to time....I think a chart would work better....I know that they would feel better if they could help. Hopefully it will work out!

The chart is a very good idea   I plan on doing the same whenever we move into our new house in March. And my DD is only 3! I think it's important to instill that a family works together to live together at a young age. I plan to give her a small treat or a few bucks allowance to put in her piggy bank at the end of each week if she completes all her chores. Of course it will start out as simple things like "help mommy sort laundry", "help daddy take out the trash", etc.

Yes I know I can identify with OP. I also know it is hard with 3, so I cannot imagine with 5 and one on the way. I have 3 close together in age. My oldest is a handful to say the least. I hope she can get a break

and LOL on work being a "break" but yeah I agree...plus some adult interaction.
