The Whole 30

posted 10th Oct
Has anyone done it? My babysitter did and lost 17lbs in 30 days. I'm finding it very difficult to find things that I can or can't eat. I think I am just beginning to realize how unhealthy I've really been... I gained FIVE POUNDS this week (not on program... eating cake and drinking beer, ugh)! I am hoping it is water retention... I'm certain I won't be able to stick to it 100%, but I certainly plan on making the slow change to Whole Foods. I've always wanted to,but I never knew how since EVERYTHING has manufactured crap in it.

If anyone is interested in the whole 30 program, join the thread so we can exchange recipes and experiences!

Hell no!! I did try though. But I after the first 10 mins I stopped to get a drink of water.

Well that ended up with me getting a cookie, some gold fish and 2 peices of toast with butter. Afer that I just said smurf it and watched Hello Kitty

I dont know anything about that plan but I lost 10lbs in about 10days just by cutting out all the crap I was eating and replacing it with unprocessed or minimally foods.

No. lol I think another poster thought I was. The Whole 30 is a Paleo diet lifestyle that only last in 30 day increments. Its used as a sort of detox and can be a permentant lifestyle change. I think it is rather drastic, but it is teaching me a lot.

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards just eating natural foods (which is what it is)... but it is VERY hard. With the Wole 30, they expect you to restart if you accidently consume anything that has unnatural ingredients.. I'm just making a lifestyle change. It takes a lot to figure out what you can and can't have (because manufactors sneak things in there)... and i'm not going to say SCREW IT because my dried cranberries had sugar in them.. It's still better than candy or a hamburger.

Oh I dunno about it obviously lol. My SO step mom suggested to me to do the Atkins diet. She swears by it.

Yeah, that seems a little unrealistic, you have to be able to cheat sometimes.

I have found that its a lot more work to eat like this, no instant rice, nothing that cuts corners because they have additives. But I feel so much better and the weight literally just fell off.

I bet, and once it becomes 2nd nature, it'll be easy.

The Atkins diet is TERRIBLE! It's not a long term solution by any means. My dad was on it for several years, he did lose weight, but he keeps yo-yoing. He had to give it up because it is not healthy. Meat and cheese??? No veggies or fruits... that's crazy.

A friend of mine started with it, and is now almost completely Paleo, she said for her family they have lost weight, are healthier, and feel better. All the way down to her Dh not relying on pain medications for his back anymore. I want to do it, but I'm an incredibly picky eater.

Atkins diet is okay for people who have a lot of weight to lose. It's not a maineaince program, in order to maintain the weight they have to then change their diet again.

I don't know that program, but I used to eat a Paleo style diet (work schedules has me adding back in a lot more crap foods due to either convenience or the fact that SO cooks dinner some nights, eats like crap, and it's there when I get home). I weighed 115-120 when I ate that way, but back on the crap foods I'm 145 (unrelated to pregnancy weight). I set myself a goal to get serious about eating right again after Halloween.
