DH/SO in jail

If your DH or SO were to go to jail, for nothing violent related, would you take your LO to see them?

Why or why not?




** I'm talking about more then a year, for a nonviolent crime.

Of course. Unless it was for neglecting said children.

Nope, too many other things can happen with the other inmates and their visitors plus it could be very confusing to them.

Yep. My DH was in a community corrections center for 9 months for a possession charge he got before we started dating and my nephew, my mom, my sister, and I all went and visited him.

If he were to, for some reason, go to jail again..I'd take his son to see him.

Yes I would. He's their father despite his mistake and they at least need to know his face and tone.

I agree that jail is no place for a child....but Im guessing said people havent seen how those kids faces light up when they see their fathers.

Been in that situation and I did not take DS to see his dad because it is not a place for.kids to see their parents on top of that I have many rants I could go off of for every situation to being in jail
They are on punishment they have broken the law so let's take our kids to go see this bad situation and teach our kids even on punishment they get visits and praise for doing wrong.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't want my kids remembering visiting daddy in jail, and I know my DH wouldn't want that either.

His mom and his aunt took him and his cousins to visit their boyfriends in jail all the time and my DH always tells me how much he hated it.

As long as it wasn't something that caused me to not want my children around him, I would.

Nope. I would also get a.divorce and file for sole custody.
