Thanks for posting that. I was trying to look up the exact numbers to show how wasteful it was. I hope those who think its a good idea read it!

Sadly, some people think that money spent scrutinizing the poor is money well spent.

Yea, thats something Ive never understood. Those who complain about their tax dollars being wasted on druggies and moochers who sit on their ass, are pretty much silent when it turns out that efforts to weed those people out waste even MORE of their tax dollars. Makes me sad too.

I suppose its easier to hate on poor people than those in power who waste the most money on ridiculous smurf. Maybe we should drug test them too?  

This argument for drug testing people would hold more weight if there was a high percentage of drug users on welfare. But there is no way to tell b/c one could easily "clean" their system out prior to taking the drug test. Waste of time and money in that regard as well.

Good point!

It does suck for the kids but people get fired and lose jobs all the time for failing drug tests-and many of those people have kids. My dad lost his job when my sister and I were kids because he failed a random drug test and we had no other income. It sucked. I don't see why it should be any different for people on assistance. If there was ever a way to drug test everyone on assistance that made sense financially then I would support it.

As a taxpayer asssistance is our business...I could care less about the drug testing-I would love to do away with welfare period-unless you are disabled or down on your luck for a short time!
