Mirena and periods

If you got mirena post partum and were breastfeeding, did you spot at all? I've heard stories of people spotting for a while in the beginning before losing their period altogether, but my MW is convinced that, since I nurse, I won't get a period. I work though, so I'm away from her for a big chunk of the day and, with my oldest, I didn't leave him for even a couple hours until he was 9 months old, coslept, he never took a bottle and I still got my period back at 6.5 months pp lol

Also, if you DID spot or get a period, was it right away?

I spot for maybe a day or 2 about once a month but it's barely anything, I don't need a pad or anything. I'm exclusively pumping and I haven't had a period at all. LO is almost 8 months old and I've had mirena for almost 7 months.

I'm not really sure? Maybe like the 2nd month I had it.

Off subject but my OB won't give a bfing mom mirena only paragard? I wanted it but he said negative lol

I thought mine wouldn't either but she told me she recommends Mirena more than Paragard because Paragard makes your periods much heavier. She said the Mirena won't have any effect on my milk because there's very little hormones in it.

That's weird! My mw straight pushed it when I said I was considering an IUD (she knew I was going to bf). A good friend of mine also has it (her 5 years is up in the spring I think) and she bfed for a year with no problems. I think I was leaning more toward paraguard because hormonal bc hasn't agreed with me in the past and every time I brought it up, she would just bring up mirena again lol. If you want it, see someone else! It's super low hormone and "direct" as in it goes straight to your ovaries so there's less in your system. I've only ever heard that it's a good option for bfing moms.
