partying boyfriend

posted 9th Oct
Well guys im 17 years old and 10 weeks pregnant. My boyfriend and I are still together and we both have jobs. Hes 21 and wants to be a firefighter more than anything, its his passion. He's been volunteering for three years but lately with all the news of the baby he has been stressing so bad. Hes not upset at me for getting pregnant.. or telling me to terminate.. he is actually really excited to be a daddy just scared out of his mind. He works at a local hospital, and has been there three years. I work two jobs.. but both of our salaries wont cut it. How can I be supportive to him and encourage him.. I can tell he is so worried about providing for the baby that he is kinda going nuts. He trys and relieves stress by going out to clubs and bars with his friends but it doesnt help us at all. It only causes us to fight because im stuck at home... only because im too young. He wishes I could go along with him, but the places he goes are 18+... its just really annoying when he does that.... he says hes getting his "going out" over with so when the baby comes he can focus on him( or her) I just dont know what to do.. I love my baby already.. but i feel like im ruining my bfs life... help ?

I would just let him go out. He isn't doing anything wrong. Let him get it all out before the baby comes.

If you're ruining your boyfriends life then he can get to steppin now can't he

I doubt this has anything to do with the baby and all to do with his age. Guys don't become a Father straight away like a woman does. So of course he is living his life as if nothing is happening whereas you can't exactly do that (even if you were of age).

Its just that he loves to look at other women.. and doesnt have a problem getting close and personal with them when hes out with all his friends... He even takes pictures with the girls he meets at bars! Its just very nerve racking when hes out.. which isnt good for the baby and i.. to stess that is..

You should just let him go out. As long as he makes some time for you two then it shouldn't really be a problem? He's stressing about the baby and is looking for a way to relieve it. It's a normal process.

If your "ruining his life" by being pregnant then he can get to steppin like the other mama said. It takes two to tango.

I guess if I was worried about financially supporting a child, I wouldn't spend money going out. That being said, maybe instead of going to a club you can go to a restaurant? Maybe go somewhere with a band and a small dance floor? If he wants you to go, he should be compromising, because if you go places like that you don't have to be old enough to get in you just need to be old enough to drink. I didn't think the legal age in Florida was 18 though, so why would you have to be that old to get in since you can't drink until 21 anyways?

And honestly, babies are not that expensive in the first year (for some people). Until DD was a year I lived in a one bedroom, breastfed, and got everything I needed at my baby shower

And there are other things you guys can do together...you don't HAVE to go to a club or a bar.

Its just difficult. He dont do anything with the girls.. he just dances and drinks with them... which makes me alittle jealous ya know? the pregnant girlfriend stuck at home.. hes getting better about not doing things like that as much.. but still.. its annyoing.. oh and you can be 18 to go into the clubs here .. just to dance and socialize but yea 21 is the drinking age..which i cant drink anyways now lol

I would be jealous if I were you too.. Have you tried asking him you're cooking his favorite dinner so you guys can have a at-home "date" type thing? You're going to have to talk to him about how you feel. Have you tried telling him what you think about him doing this?

Ya that's really only fair if you have the opportunity to go out and do the same. It works for some people... my bf and I for example have a good time when we're out separately. I'll dance with other guys, in a friendly way not grinding. We don't hug eachother or take pictures or become friends lol. But that's not fair if you're left home. He needs to find something you can both do. We enjoy inviting our friends over for some beers and drinking games.
