Chasing cats

posted 9th Oct
Apparently the neighbor kids think it's funny to chase cats and scare them.

Kids do that.
Our cats know our kid, and they don't run from her when she wants to pet them and be "lovey".
The cats at my grandmother's house, they run whenever my daughter goes to pet them, so she thinks it's fun to chase them.
Gives them a little exercise, they are fat cats!

I'd think it funny to bang on the neighbors door and tell their parents.

It's my cat they were chasing, and my neighbor's cat. Some kids walking home from school, we live on base. It just upset me because my cat doesn't like being chased, it upsets him. He is inside with us now, I just heard them say his name.

Why not just leave your cat inside? It's safer and you have no risk of it being chased or hit by anything? I know you said you live on a base, but I have seen so many cats nowadays dead on the road, it upsets me so much to see. I always ask myself, would they let their dog wander around outside risking it to be hit by a car?

I've yelled at the little bastards here in front of their parents for chasing Darcy.

Its not always that simple. My cat freaks out if she doesn't go outside. In the summer she spends about 18 hours a day outside. And that's only because I make he come in.

How does she freak out?
My MIL adopted a kitten who was an outdoor cat but she's trying to change her to be an inside cat. It was hard and after a year of hard work the cat still wants to be outside sometimes but she doesn't run to the door as much anymore. I know it's hard to change an outdoor cat to an indoor cat but it's not impossible, especially if they are fixed.

She will run out and stands at the door crying and paces. I don't find it necessary to torture my animal and make her unhappy because some smurf for parents can't discipline their bastard kids. How is it fair to her to make her miserable? When I catch it, I yell at them, just like I do when they try and trip us down flights of stairs while carrying the baby.

It's not torture. If anything you're potentially saving your cats life from being hit by a car, eaten by another animal, etc. Trust me, if you leave your cat inside she will eventually learn that she can't go outside anymore. & I don't understand your last sentence, when you catch kids you yell at them or when you catch your cat you yell at it?

We clearly have different beliefs when it comes to animals.

I yell at the kids when I catch them chasing my cat or any other. Just like I yell at them in front of their parents when they tried to trip my husband down the stairs while he was carrying our baby.

Yes we do. lol

I agree with yelling at the kids. & that's terrible that they would try and trip your husband, good for you for yelling at them! I'm wondering why you had to yell at them and not their parents. But I would have done that same thing.

Because they have terrible parents. They even put sharp rocks under car tires

That's crazy! & the parents don't do anything?! That's terrible! Those kids need some major discipline!
