How did you get started: Bows

I'm looking to start making bows for little girls! I have a creative side that I never use. How did you start? Where did you get your materials?

I watched some you tube videos and read some blogs. Went to the craft store and bought some things. I love my bowdabra. I buy ribbon everywhere, walmart, fabric stores, craft stores like hobby lobby and Micheal's. I looks for sales and coupons.

I watched youtube videos as well, and I get my materials from hobby lobby when they have the 50% ribbon sales.

The biggest thing is that I wouldn't expect much of a profit unless you are going to be selling in local stores.

I was thinking of just selling to friends and family, nothing too big

DH gets mad, bc I give mine away more than anything, lol
but that sometimes leads to money, like when I made my niece one her whole cheer team wanted one. I make the most money when I go to little craft booths with my neighbor.

Do I need to spend a lot to get started?

Depends what you plan to do. I buy ribbon pretty much every time I go out. Cheap spools are a couple of dollars each.

I would figure out what kind of bows you want to make, and just get a few spools to get you started.

also if you type in how to make hairbows..a bunch of links will come up and it will show you different types!! I made bottlecap bows for awhile, but to time consuming..I have tons tons tons of ribbong!!
