the second time around

posted 9th Oct
Is it weird that I feel like everything is just so blahhh about this pregnancy. Like with my first every U/S i went to they were so into telling me everything .. like this is her ____ and we are looking for _____ and everything was just so detailed and they were soo like excited to tell you things. Where as this time I feel like i go in sit in a chair they scan they say everything looks great and that is it. My doctor is the same way - not so EXCITED lmfao. Its like as soon as they ask you "is this your first pregnancy" and you say no I have a ___ year old they like press a button that doesn't allow them to be excited !! lol

anyone else?

yeah the first time is a different experience. By the time you get to number 7 like me...expect no reaction when you tell people you are pregnant....they just come to expect it basically! Then expect them to talk about you behind your back (wonder if they planned it? wonder how many they will have, etc!) Your dr will assume you know everything, need no explanation and could probably even teach them a thing or two! (kidding there) When you deliver hospital staff will assume you know the drill and not explain things to you or guide you much. Things that were offered to you the first time you may have to ask for as they assume you will ask if you want since you know its available.

see thats crazy to me - idk how many years apart your kiddies are but mine is 4 years apart and so much has changed just in 4 years i would have NO idea what to ask for in the hospital!! & someone needs to help me breastfeed lol.
My aunt had just gotten pregnant for the 7th time ( it really was no surprise we were all kind of like 0_0 AGAIN!!! ) she just had twins so THAT was a surprise since we have ZERO twins in our family. But I think its still important to feel special after any number of pregnancies !!

my oldest is 14 and my youngest a year old. I have been pregnant or breastfeeing or both pretty much non stop for the past 15 years!

One thing I can say is that they are so so much better (at least around here) with breastfeeding. When I had my first there was no lactation consultant on staff. With my second I gave birth on a weekend and the consultant was only there on weekdays (cuz I guess babies just aren't born on weekends or if they are don't breastfeed?) Even with my 3rd there was no support...and I actually got into a nasty fight with a nurse who was insisting my baby needed supplementing. I won the fight. And not only was she yelled at by my midwife the next morning but my husband's step mother was the director of nursing at the hospital at the time and when she heard of the unacceptable way I was treated that nurse definately heard about it! Anyways my last couple there has been a lactation consultant on hand everyday. They seek you out and visit you even when, like me, I am pretty set and don't need help or anything. They still come in and encourage you etc. Its nice.

I had someone come in too but the baby was in NICU so she couldn't exactly help me. I was pumping and sending it to NICU but they weren't giving it to her - they were SUPPLEMENTING with her as well - with formula and sugar water from an IV -__- I was so annoyed. This time my fingers are crossed for NO NICU and BOOB FEEDING ONLY .. since I refuse to pay for formula - idc if she doesn't latch I will PUMP and she will eat my boob milk !!!

haha i'm the same way, it's more exciting for me this time around anyway cause i'm having a little girl and this was a planned pregnancy. (Not that we didn't want our son he was just a surprise) and the doctors, u/s techs and everyone is like oh wow....where as with my son they wanted to practically know my blood type lol

Lmao it drives me nuts. But what, in all honesty, pisses me off is that my doctor just went on a 2 week vacation during my 36th week ... When I'm a repeat csection .... I feel that he doesn't go in depth with my visits like blood pressure a quick scan with the ultrasound to check her heart and etc but like I feel deprived of my pregnancy almost. Everything was way more detailed the first time. My doctor is a great docot but I'm so freakin scared of going into labor and MY doctor not being there. He is the only one I would trust doing a csection let alone an emergency csection.

I felt blah about this pregnancy at first, after finding out it was a girl. (already have a girl and was hoping for a boy) However, recently I'm getting really excited. I don't know if it's because we have the cute crib set up or have tons of cute newborn outfits or what, but I'm definitely more excited now than I was in the beginning of my pregnancy.

Yeah I don't blame you at all there, that would drive me insane too! I had my son early at 35 weeks and my doctor went on vacation this week too, I hope she back soon cause based on the NST i'm doing good and baby is good but i'm having some strong contactions coming here and there. I'm surprised he would go on a vacation this close to you being term. I hope baby doesn't decide to come early. When is your c-section scheduled?
