yea i'm the same way. my first uti i ever had the only symptom i had was a fever and some sever flank pain, that's why it took them a bit to figure that's what it was since i didn't have a peeing symptoms that usually come with uti's. but all the uti's i've gotten after that it's always been the typical uti symptoms. so i'd get it checked out so you don't hurt your kidneys by not getting it treated.

That's what caused me to quit drinking soda, because it was causing me to get a ton of UTI's.

I know that's why after I got one after DD was born I completely stopped with the soda, it's no longer allowed in the house.

my urologist told me soda does not CAUSE utis, it just makes them hurt worse because the stimulation from caffiene makes your bladder contract harder. a uti is cause from bacteria getting into the urinary tract, not soda.

That's what my OB told me, so I just listened to her seeing as at the time I was drinking a ton of soda and no water. But that's good to know.

i think a lot of people are misinformed on that. it can definitely make them hurt worse and probably MAKE them worse...but it doesn't actually cause them. and maybe (this is just my own hypothesis, haven't researched it)..but maybe the caffeine from sodas damages the bladder in a way that makes it more susceptible to infection. i think that because i had severe chronic UTIs for a while...i asked whyy does this keep happening to me? the urologist said that my bladder was so damaged from previous infections that it's inflamed and just makes it more susceptible (or like, less able to fight off/kill bacteria). idk. but a UTI is caused from bacteria (and usually E.coli that comes from the anus) sex can cause the bacteria from your anus to get entered into to the urethra, and so can wiping from back to front.

Thanks for the info, I knew about the sex and wiping part but not everything else.

That's what's wrong with me too!
about a week ago i went to the ER with different symptoms and was told i had a UTI. I was given cipro 500 mg and just now ran out of the meds.

But i didn't know caffine, dairy, and NSAIDs killed that antibiotic, so that explains why im not getting better. and i'm having night sweats. I had DS 4 weeks ago, today.
i had a cathatar and it hurt me like hell, so i think it could or scratched me or something and set off a bad infection down there. pain down there too that's weird and really sore.

Probably a uti and kidney infection. that's my guess for the both of us.
go to the dr. i'm calling mine in the morning.

catheters could def cause it...the nurse should be using full sterile technique when she does one...sadly a lot of them contaminate.

well it was in me wrong and the nurse ignored me. my epidural wore off(they didn't bieleve me until the epidural guy ran a test) and i could feel myself pee and it wasn't running down the tube, and it hurt so badly. and it hurt just to touch myself around that area when i was in labor.

I called my obgyn and they sent me in some antibiotics so i wouldn't have to come in. They said it was a uti and kidney infection.
