Breastfeeding question.
posted 9th Oct
So I returned to work yesterday, my LO is 7 weeks old. So now during the day he is drinking my expressed milk. I was wondering if there is a reason why he is content to wait 3 hours between feedings of expressed milk, yet is only content for about an hour from direct feedings from me? I pumped out 22 ounces yesterday, I also fed him in the morning before work and when I got off work. So I'm pretty sure it's not that he isn't getting enough when he eats directly from the breast.

Lol because he loves you and wants his momma. Nursing from the breast is about comfort and soothing as much as nutrition.

My theory is that breastfeeding is about so much more then just milk, it is about comfort too. Being close to mommy, cuddling, and suckling are all very comforting, so it makes sense that your baby would want to do it often.

He just misses you and the closeness of nursing.

Yea what the other two posters said. I was gonna say cause babies love boobie time and cuddling.
My son nursed every hour and a half on the clock last night.

I mean if I don't feed him after about an hour he acts like he is starving. He isn't content with me just holding him close. He wants to suck near constantly and it starts to get sore when he sucks for like 6 hours continuously.

I agree with the comfort thing. My 11 month old is the SAME way. She could have just ate a meal, just had a bottle...it doesn't matter as soon as she sees me she wants the boob.

When my DD was breast feeding i had to get her a pacifier because sometimes it wasn't hunger, it was just her wanting to suckle at me.
I also think When the milk is in a bottle in the fridge the LO doesn't smell it but when mommys around sometimes they just want more. It smells yummy and the LO sometimes has gotta have more! Lol

I've tried him with a pacifier. He pulls a face and spits it out. He won't take it from me or daddy. He took it yesterday from his aunt. He also only accepted my milk from his aunt, he refused it from his grandma.
