Breast Cancer awareness *D&D*

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm kind of "over" all the awareness about breast cancer

We KNOW about it. It gets the most funding of any cancer out there.

Why can't we shift our focus to lesser known and more deadly cancers now?

This wasn't intended to belittle or mock breast cancer. Just kinda pissy that it gets all the attention when children are dying of brain cancers and my cousin is dying of adrenal cancer and they, together, get less than 2% of all cancer funds, while breast cancer gets like 75% of all cancer research money. (Yes, I pulled those stats out of my ass but it's in the ballpark from what I have read in the past)

I put this in D&D cause I can see it turning into a debate topic

I agree.

Also, I think people should donate straight to the groups before buying clothes and accessories that they have no clue what percentage ((if any)) will be going towards research.

My SO just said the same thing. He feels bad obviously but he doesn't understand, as do I, why other cancer's are brushed to the side.

it bugs me, quite honestly.

Everyone knows about breast cancer. everyone gives money to it and does the fundraisers and smurf. But it is just one cancer out of hundreds (or thosands) of different cancers and diseases that all desperately need cures

A friend of mine calls it "The AIDS of this generation". (cause of how AIDS was the sole focus for a long time, and now it is breast cancer)

I like that org too.

I agree with this... my nephew is dying from Battens and it is very under funded and gets no attention. There are so many areas in need of funding.

I totally agree with you.
I attended a nice awareness/benefit for breast cancer a couple days ago and although it was informative and moving, it left me wondering where all the contribution and support for other causes went...
I mentioned to the organizer of the event of they thought about doing one in November for prematurity awareness and she said not many people know about it. Well, duh!? Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant death; I'm sure people would be interested in the subject.
People just kill me...My grandmother died of uterine cancer, my grandfather from lung cancer and my uncle from brain...
Awareness is multi-faceted.
