Tubes Tied????

How old were you & did you think of other conspection(sp) before deciding to get it done. This is for a friend of mines she is 23 & about to have her 3 in November but Dr. is telling her she is too young to get them done that she has to wait till she is 25. We don't understand why.

some dr's have preferences, some hospitals have policies, and most insurance companies do.

it's because she's very young to be making that decision. She's practically still a child. Accept that maybe those older know the high odds of her changing her mind. that's why

dr like you to wait until age 25 or have 3 kids (i believe but i may be wrong) because if you change your mind its usually non reverseable

I got mine tied when after my 4th baby when i was 30

I had mine tied the day after my 23rd birthday, but in NC medicaid will let anyone over 21, male or female, get sterilized with only signing a consent form.
My doctors just told me to make sure that it was what I wanted, I was sure, so they did the surgery when I was about 6/7 weeks pp from having twins.

In some places they wait until you have at least two kids, some make you wait until your 25, and some will do it whenever you choose. I would like to get my tubes tied, but I'm not sure exactly when.

I didnt have mine done because my doctor wouldnt do it, i'm 28 and have had 2.children. I tried to explain to my doctor that even though I have only had 2 I am a mother to 3 and I am done having kids. My husband has a child from a previous relationship. I dont believe a doctor should be able to tell you no.

  yeah i think its pretty ridiculous. he isnt going to raise those babies if you were to happen to get pregnant again, so why the hell does he get a say? as long you are healthy enough to have the procedure, it shouldnt be any of his business.

we fought about it my whole pregnancy. i almost switched doctors because she wouldn't do it but i really had no other option where i live

I would contact another doctor to have it done because since your over 25 they cant deny you. I had mine done at the hospital

I was on Medicaid with my son and they told me I had to be 26 or have 3 kids. Luckily my bday was 2 months before my son was born, so I was able to get it done. I would have been pissed if I couldnt get it done because I KNEW I didnt want anymore kids.

It happened to my best friend tho. Shes exactly a year younger than me, and we were pregnant at the same time. Of course, her dr refused to do one for her. She was put on the bc they put inside you, sorry forgot the name but she still got pregnant and had to abort.  

I hate that they would refuse women who want to have that done. I understand their reasoning to an extent, but most women KNOW when they dont want more kids and I feel its crappy that they are refused like that. I wonder what the statistic is on women who change their mind after having their tubes tied...
