It can take a while before you find the correct amount and combination of medication that fits you personally... and you can't expect the medication to do it alone. 6-7 weeks isn't long enough to have your environment change.

Quoting Kate Walsh ♥:" I was on lexapro before this which was good but my mood swings were happening more than once a day. Now ... [snip!] ... in weeks instead of hours. But sodium valproate doesn't help with the depressive state and self control like the lexapro did. "

Then you may need to try something different. I know my dad went through years before he found the right combination. Obviously saying "keep your head up, things get better" doesn't make a difference when you're battling depression... but saying "hey, there IS a correct combination you can find, and you WILL feel better" might make more sense to you? My sister struggled herself... but since both of them found their correct combination, they've both become such happy people. Just stick with it!Do you have an appointment coming up?

Quoting Kate Walsh ♥:" Thanks, it does make sense. It just feels like its taking so long and Im going to break to the point ... [snip!] ... we get there   Yeah, I have a normal GP appointment in 2 days and a psychologist and psychiatrist appointments next month. "

Maybe you could see if you could move them up? I knwo it's impossible to want to do things when you're feeling low, but just remember how life was on your upswings, and keep that as a goal in mind.   A month is a very long time when you're feeling this bad. Was it just today that you started feeling down again?

Quoting Is that still my name?:" Maybe you could see if you could move them up? I knwo it's impossible to want to do things when you're ... [snip!] ... in mind.   A month is a very long time when you're feeling this bad. Was it just today that you started feeling down again?"

I have no idea where my psychiatrist is based but he only comes down every 3 months. My first and last appointment were via teleconference because they needed it then and there basically. I've never met him face to face.

My psychologist I only seen about a week or 2 ago and I was completely fine then she was actually really happy with my progress   It started when my husband went onto his 8 days off. He works at the mines so he works 8 days on then 8 days off. I have been just lazy and uninterested all last week and yesterday he went back to work and I'm finding it basically impossible to function and get back into the swing of things nor do I feel like I have the energy to even do so.

I had a feeling their were environmental reasons... your husband being on that kind of schedule is tough. Very tough. Aside from that, I HIGHLY suggest a new psych... you can't have an online interaction when it comes to mental health, and the fact someone would lead their practice hat way, just shoes their intentions are foul, and he's probably seeking money and not your BEST health. You can PM me if you get in panic mode. Talk to your primary when you go in and he can give you some good references.
