Transitioning DD into her own room :'(

posted 9th Oct
Tonight we've started the process of having DD sleep in her crib in her own room.

We're sort of transitioning her rather than just sticking her in there and seeing how it goes. Lol...

So since she was born, she usually falls asleep in our arms down stairs while SO and I are still up.We'll lay her down in either her rocker or bouncer about 15 mins after she falls asleep. We've been both co-sleeping half the time, and in her bassinet the other half of the time (about). Tonight we broke out the baby monitors and around 10 we took her upstairs to our room and laid her down in the bassinet and stayed with her until she fell asleep. It's now 12:37 and we've only had to go up there twice within the first half hour or so she was up there and after that she's been fast asleep.
After she gets used to going to bed like that, I think we'll move her crib into our room and see how she handles the crib mattress opposed to her bassinet mattress. And then after that we'll move her completely into her room. :/

I think I'm having withdraws already from holding her while she's sleeping...lol. I want to go up there so bad and hold her and cuddle up to her. :'(

IF you co-slept or had them sleeping in something else in your room, when did you decide to make the transition for them to sleep in their own room/crib (how old was LO)? Did you just try it and see what happened or did you slowly make the change like we are?

My DD is 2 1/2 months old today...she only wakes up once (rarely twice) a night to eat so I don't think it'll be bad to wake up to feed her seeing as how she's just in the next room over once she fully moves to her own room. I'm gonna miss sleeping with her right next to me though. Boo! Lol but at the same time, better to start her sleeping on her own earlier rather than later and it potentially becoming a hassle.

TIA.

OH WOW! Lucky mom! The BEST thing (and the manufacturer must have caught on because it's almost double the price) is a Nap'n'Play by fisher price. It's nothing fancy, but when you put baby in it, it makes them feel like they are swaddled. It's cheaper than a bassinet, and it keeps them slightly upright to avoid any reflux. I actually started puttin DD in it next to the bed, then moved it into her room. She was WONDERFUL at going to bed on her own upuntil about a month ago when she turned 15 months. I HIGHLY reccomend it to everyone!
