5 cm & -2?

posted 9th Oct
5 cm, and -2 station.
To admit, or not to admit?
38 weeks as of midnight!
(friend)
Do you think they will admit her to have the baby?
Also, what is a -2 station? good/ bad??

I delivered at the hospital my friends at, and they told me 4 and up they admit.
BUT, she went exactly a week ago ( 37 weeks) and she was having consistent contractions, progressed from a 1 1/2 to a 4 1/2 while she was there, and then they admitted her, and contractions stopped so they sent her home.
She's back because she was consistently contracting every 4-5 mins, and had a little bleeding...

Sounds like she's in labor if she's having regular contractions... I'd say they'd admit her... -2 means that the baby is still "floating" but is floating lower than it was before (-4) when the baby is at 0 station it is engaged in labor... at +4 the baby is crowning. hope that helps

-2 station isn't good or bad. Its how far the babies head is in the pelvic bone.. its -3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2, and then at +3 the babies head is crowning if I am not mistaken... People please feel free to correct me if I am wrong..

bloody show? they told us in our birthing class that there could be bleeding during labor and delivery... if she's in the hospital they should catch it if it's anything worse than just normal bleeding... they may need to check and make sure her placenta isn't causing any problems... but it's most likely nothing to worry about

Okay, for anyone who was wondering...
They sent her home, but she was still in intense pain. So we went to a better hospital, where they admitted her. She got an epidural but it wore off, and she had her daughter at 7:09 PM today weighing 5 pounds 9 ounces. She's perfectly healthy.
If she keeps her, her name will be Silvia Christine, but she hasn't made her decision yet.
