Promethazine dm??

My youngest is 18 months and has strep, her pedi prescribed her this medicine and I gave her 2ml rather than the 2.5 dosage they said to give her. After a long day of me myself being sick and running on little sleep I didn't read the paper that came with it until after giving her the medicine. It says it's not recommended for children under 2 because it may cause slow or shallow breathing and could be fatal...she took it at 8pm and it's 12:50 am now, if it was going to cause any bad effects would it most likely have already happened??

Don't freak out   Pretty much ALL medicine says that under side effects. The thing about that medicine is that it's a sedative and some parents are idiots and will give it to their kids to make them sleep, and giving them too much CAN be fatal. She should be fine. My son had it for the first time when he was about that age because of a stomach virus.

Thanks so much, lol. I had kept her with DH and I in the living room to watch about her but she would NOT give in and lay down so I put her in her crib and had been checking on her a lot. My mom is a worry wart, especially about medicine so she didn't help my freaking out when I made the mistake of telling her about it.
