Sidecarring your crib!

posted 9th Oct
I did this tonight. My son is 14 months and it was getting squishy in my queen sized bed!

I don't believe in letting a child cry it out and my son will not go to sleep on his own, he needs us to lay beside him while he falls asleep then were good for the night.
His crib has been for decoration in his bedroom up until this point..he has NEVER slept on his own in a bed of his own for more than a few hours.
However we were afraid of him falling out of the bed which led us to sidecarring it tonight!
Has anyone ever sidecarred a crib to get a child used to the crib? was it successful?

My sister and I both slept on my parents floor beside their bed (on our crib mattresses) until we were about 4. We both had our own rooms but were legitimately too scared to sleep on our own.

It is basically just turning the crib into a toddler bed and then raising the mattress to be level with your own bed! kind of just makes you have extra bed space!

I just wondered if anyone had done it to help their child become used to their own crib

You need to make sure there is no way that your LO can slip in between the mattresses. In the Vancouver sun or province a couple months ago there was an article about a crib like that that is sold in the states and it's banned in Canada because there was some infant deaths.

They are tough cookies! mine has fallen out a handful of times and I had had enough. You can be ask careful as you want but I was heartbroken tonight when he fell and felt enough was enough and sidecarred it!
