I advocate parent sex ed. then.

This is all stuff that you should know.

That's why I said thank God I have a few years to research a little more. ;) But I still think it's good for MY children to get information from more than one source so they can make a decision that is best for them.

It's fine for parents that don't want their kids to participate. By all means don't force them to participate. But don't call other parents lazy for letting their kids participate.

It absolutely is. The sex-ed class in my HS pretty much only covered herpes, condoms, and abstinence. That's it. My parents never really talked to me about sex or anything so everything I do know is from friends and experience. KWIM? Which I guess is why I would love for this class to be available to my children, to make sure they know as much as possible in case I am missing some major points and information when I talk with them.

Yeah the spermicide just slipped my mind...the lady commenting on the news site made it seem like it was for pleasure but who knows unless we can see the curriculum.

I will teach my children about sex whether they have sex ed in school or not... but, i think the option should be in school for parents who do not or who want to give their kids more information or whatever. I wish I had a detailed sex ed in my school since my parents really didn't tell us much.

Also, I just watched "the pregnancy pact"... yeah... I don't believe in AO sexual education, regardless of your religion.

My sex ed was horrible.
At school, we were told if we had sex without intentions of getting pregnant we were going to hell. Period. Sex for fun or stress relief or even love of your husband is a sin, only have sex if you want to get pregnant. The end.

My mom explained the period thing and that after you have your period, you can get pregnant by a man inserting his penis in your vagina. I got that at 8 (when my period started) and she never said anything else about it... ever.

My older sister did explain to me BC when I was 15 and took me to get the pill at 16. I wasn't sexually active, but I was about to move to Guatemala and she wanted to make sure I had it. I got a year supply.

I learned most my STD and about the emotions attached to sex and even what masturbation meant from seventeen magazine.

Out of curiosity, I watched porn online at 17.

Wow, I didn't know Seventeen went that far in. lol BTW you remind me so much of my childhood friends niece and it makes me sad because she is dying from cancer.   I have seen you with your new avi (and the old Once Upon a Time one too) and almost thought it was her.

They had a few articles, not every month or in serious detail! haha

And I'm sorry about your friend's niece.

abstinence to me, is unrealistic. we are animals, with animal urges and instincts, just becuase society says we have to be a certain age to have sex, doesnt mean our bodies natural instincts dont kick in. I think its a great idea, i will be showing my kids how to use condoms and BC and making sure there is alwasy a readily available stash available to my kids....

Quoting khigh:" I personally use natural family planning in my life and don't take hormonal birth control. Anything ... [snip!] ... attaching to the wall of the uterus is wrong in the principles of ahisma because we believe that life starts at conception."

Most hormonal birth controls actually STOP the body from ovulating. That actually follows your teachings more closely than condoms, which stop the sperm from reaching an egg and allowing it to die before it has the chance to be fertilized.
