what kind of sex talk does a catholic church give?

it freaked me out, lmao. I was thinking that it would hurt (like the constant blood flow). ugh

Abstitence only. Sex is for procreation. We saw a pro-life video and talked about hormonal birth control being wrong. I think most orthodox religions teach it that way.

I think we all think like you in this post BUT we also know that a lot of parents that should talk to their children just don't do it. One of my best friends moms was even naive enough to let her b/f spend the night and at 14 yrs old she came to my house scared because her mom was angry and pulled the phone out of the wall because she was pregnant. In an ideal world all parents would use smart tactics on the topic of sex and teaching their children but it just doesn't happen.

Why not home school her then? If education is that much better heard from the parent, no matter what kind of training they have/don't have, then just take her out of it completely. Don't even give her the option of being in a school. Hell, don't even let her see boys until she's old enough to get married, if you're that serious about abstinence.

She goes to a private school (non religious) where all of the parents have a meeting once a month to discuss and vote on what we want taught that month. I would home school if I could, but with leaving the country for a year in January, it's not feasible.

I will talk to my child about it but I know I am not a qualified teacher so I don't mind them getting the most information they can. I don't see it as 'lazy' at all.

I personally use natural family planning in my life and don't take hormonal birth control. Anything that would hinder a fertilized egg from attaching to the wall of the uterus is wrong in the principles of ahisma because we believe that life starts at conception.

I still think it is a parenting issue.

It's really none of my concern, policing other parents and their parenting techniques. In this case, I don't think it's a schools (governments) place to do so, either.

I still think it's lazy parenting to have your kids sexual education come from total strangers.

What happens if your child comes home pregnant in middle school or high school?

Well of course it is a better way to go but you shouldn't expect that your kids will come to you just because you left the door open. That was my only point.

I would not provide it for her. If she wants to seek it out on her own, fine, but I would prefer her to use something that prevents the sperm from reaching the egg (condoms) or abstinence rather than something that prevents a fertilized egg from implanting.
