This is RIDICULOUS! *POLL* School yearbook..

Okay, so here's the thing. I went to this school for my freshman year in high school. The now 'superintendent' was the principal when I started [This was only 3 or 4 years ago]

http://kstp.com/news/stories/S2793791.shtml?cat=1

I knew the kid who committed suicide, and I was friends with his older brother.
I think no matter how he died, they should be allowed a memorial page in THEIR yearbook for him. I guarantee if he would have died in a car accident, this would be a completely different story.
And the girl with the baby... it's HER senior picture. I think it's her choice whether to have her daughter in it or not.
Mrs. Klamm [the superintendent] is bitching about tradition? She's been in this school system for 4 years! What the hell?!
This just has me really aggravated for some reason.

What do you think about this?

If she wants a picture with her daughter she can take a family photo...yearbooks arent for that.

And I think its smurfed up they wont do the memorial page for him.

I can KIND of see where the baby not being allowed and whatnot...but why not the memorial...

Also, maybe if the principal would stop being a dick, the girl could have a picture of her and her little girl in another part of the yearbook as a compromise...

This is exactly what I was thinking.

I completely agree that the girl should not be allowed to have her senior picture with her daughter. Your senior picture is you alone. However if it is that important she can buy an ad and put that picture in there. I do not agree that they won't allow the students to buy a.memorial page because the boy committed suicide.

He should have a memorial page, that's like what they did to a senior couple my freshman year. They took a picture with their kid and the school didnt approve so they put a sticker of just the two of them over it so everyone peeled it off, they said it was encouraging teen pregnancy.

That's what they're saying about this.
It's glamorizing teen pregnancy and suicide.
I'm so glad I don't live there anymore.

Why would the girl think it's ok to have a pic with her daughter?

But the boy? So what if it was suicide? There are people I'm sure that cared about him just the same, if he had died in a car crash, that doesn't matter.

Yearbooks are memorials in themselves of people you went to school with. Adding a memorial for someone who did attend but passed is appropriate. Adding a kid of someone you may or may not know, is not. You don't know their kid, you did not go to school with them and their child did not attend the school nor make relationships or connections while attending the school.

I don't agree about the suicide but maybe the pregnancy, I mean they were fine with the picture until last minute. The thing about it was the page was a for a family type thing since they were married.

The girl should not get to have her child in the yearbook. I feel like that in a sense almost does in a way glamorize teen pregnancy. plus no one went to school with her kid so no one cares lol

as for the suicide I feel like regardless of how he dies he should get a memorial page. they don't have to put down how he died just that he is missed and loved.
