re: I am a Preemie contest

Joshua was born at 35 weeks and 6 days. 5 pounds 11 ounces, 18 inches.

6 hours old.


4 days.


Will be 23 weeks tomorrow.

And recently 21 months old. Still a little small for his age but so prefect! Love my little man  

Is it okay, even if my preemie didn't survive?

Lila was 7lbs when she was born but most of it was fluid   She was just at 5lbs when she left.
May I ask what's wrong with him? Please don't take that as me being rude

36 Weeks. Lucky I was able to keep her in that long. She tried coming at 29 weeks.

Now almost 18 months

I know. ! I was seriously scared to handle him to much because of his size.
I finally got a bit more comfortable as time went on.
he was 4 lbs when we brought him home.

Oh wow, why did she have so much fluid. ? ( sorry for asking )

No no problem at all  
Well While I was pregnant with him I had. Low fluid, Severe IUGR, 2 vessel cord, GD , Then started to develop Pre-E around 31 weeks.
They also saw a brain malformation in the utero , They thought it was dandy walker syndrome.

Once he was born, They did a MRI, Came back it wasn't dandy walker syndrome but he did have "Agenesis of the corpus collosum"
He also has a heart defect & heart murmur. "Bicuspid aortic valve" & "Aortic valve stenosis"
He had to have a heart procedure done at 5 weeks old :/ We didn't even know about the stenosis heart defect because it was completely normal at the time of birth when they did a echardiogram.
2 weeks after being home from the NICU, he started projectile vomiting after every feeding and his when he cried you couldn't hear him. He was so weak, So we took him to childrens hospital and that's how we found out . He was in heart failure, Luckily we got there just in time to fix it.

He is behind because of the brain defect, it slows his motor skills down. He cannot walk yet but he is getting close.

he's had such a LONG road but he is doing GREAT now, put aside the motor skills.

I'm so thankful everything worked out. I didn't know what I was gonna do , especially once we found out he was in heart failure and needed a heart procedure done.

The doctors also suggested I abort him, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Looking at him now, I just couldn't imagine him not being here !

He is, He's one of the happiest and outgoing kids I know .
