I wish I would have known you could fire your nurse. I had a horrible nurse who went against everything I wanted and asked for and I just put up with her for 12 hours. Things would have been much nicer had I known I could have gotten rid of her.

My last labor was absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it!!!

The one before that - I wish I would have known I didn't HAVE to be induced when my water broke, and I wish I would have just said no to the medical induction or given castor oil a shot.

For my first labor - I wouldn't change anything. That one was perfect as well.

My OB came in the next morning and said to me that I could have talked to the charge nurse and pretty much fired her. I wish I'd known that because she was horrible. She refused to call my doctor when I asked. Refused to order my epi even though I was told by my doctor I could have one whenever I wanted. She spent the whole time insulting the fact that I was there to have my 4th child and after I'd had my daughter, she told me everything I was doing was wrong. Don't feed her a full ounce because she'll be fat. Don't hold her too much or she'll be spoiled. Ugh. She ruined my last childs birth and it didn't need to be that way..

With my first I would have tried to rest more in the days leading up to the labor. I was two weeks overdue when she came and during labor I was exhausted because I didn't let myself get any rest. My labor would have been shorter. I would have also not pushed past the contraction ( I tore really bad) and I would have gotten on my hands an knees. The third thing I would have done was got to a different hospital after her birth. I had some retained placenta so my midwife transferred me to the hospital where I sat for two hours till anyone came to look at me and by hour three I had blood up my back in my hair and all over. The crap didn't stop there. I ended up with a blood transfusion. My Tear was not repaired and my daughter never latched .
With my second the only thing I may change was trying to get to the birth center earlier. I got there 15 minutes before she was born . We planed another water birth but because I got there too late the tub wasn't full so she never actually hit the water lol!! Other then that it was perfect.
With my third I would have gotten on my hands an knees . I was being stupid i do not do well on my back I need to be on my hands a knees. It may have helped move things along quicker. Other then that nothing.

Another thing I would have done differently is I would have declined the pain relief that stopped my DD's heart.

Well hindsight being 20/20 I am sure there is something I would change if I could with each delivery...but for the most part I feel pretty satisfied with how each of mine went and have no major regrets.

With my 6th however I would have pushed even though a whole room of nurses were literally screaming at me not to. See, I was induced because i was 2 weeks over and baby needed to come out. Nothing was really progressing too amazingly for hours. I got up to go to the bathroom and it was just what I needed...to walk and that squatting in the toilet to open that pelvis up....I had three massive contractions back to back and urge to push. Now right before i went into the bathroom I was checked and 2 cm baby still high etc.. so it was immediate all this happened. My dr had not been called, it was 6 a.m. she was in bed and lived 20 minutes away. Every nurse on the floor was in there screaming at me not to push and I was crying begging to be allowed because the urge was so strong. But the good little patient I am never pushed once. waited darn well near a 1/2 hour through that agony and pushed when my dr arrived.

Not only was it unbearable to wait. Being screamed at was horrible. The wait stressed my baby and he had massive bowel movements and was born absolutely completely covered in meconium. I mean covered. The nurses said they never seen anything like it. If he had been smaller my body probably would have delivered him without my pushing but being he was a bigger one he needed that assistance of a push.

Anyways never again. If I am told not to push I will say nope I did that before and push away. For MY comfort and baby's well being. Those nurses are plenty capable of catching a baby!
