Looking for some advice. *Kinda long but help is appreciated

posted 8th Oct
I've been having this general feeling of something not being right (health wise) and I've gone to my DR numerous times and he just keeps telling me that everything is ok. I'm tired all the time and no matter how much sleep I get, I'm still exhausted. About 2 months ago, all my joints swelled up and I was barely able to walk and he just said that it was Tendinitis in my whole body. Still to this day I have problems with it. For the past week, I haven't been able to keep anything down. He put me on this "Brat" diet where all I eat is Bananas, white rice, apples, and toast... Even those I can't keep down. He said that it was Gastroentroitis and took a urine sample to make sure I wasn't prego (which I'm not cause I have to be having sex for that to happen right) but he did say that my white blood cell count was a little high and he was going to send it to the lab for some tests. He said it'd be 2 days. It's been almost a week and I haven't heard anything. Last but not least, I've had this bruise on the inside of my arm for MONTHS now and it just won't go away. I tend to forget about it because I bruise so easily and I have them all over the place anyways but this one every once in a while I remember and it's still there.

Does anyone have an advice on what could possibly be going on and what I should do? I know I definitely need to go to a different DR but I just don't have time.

ah...there could a whole laundry list of things going on.

Are you seeing a family physician? If you're not happy with him or her, I'd make an appointment with an internal medicine specialist.

You need to MAKE time. What if you're seriously sick?! We moms always say we don't have time, but we need to show our kids that mommy sometimes needs to take care of mommy and put ourselves first.

Call first thing in the AM for your lab results. Then you need to call and make yourself an appt with a new dr

I went to the Dr. looking for help. I had knots all over my legs, hands, and fingers. I would cry due to the pain in my joints. I never cry from pain. I have a very high pain tolerance. When I went to the Dr they told me I was fine. I kept going back every month. Finally I was like I am in the medical field screw this! I started reading up on what was going on and took it to the Dr. turns out I had to tell them I had Lupus. It only comes around when I have hormone changes so around one to two weeks a month. So keep going and fighting for yourself. I changed Dr.'s a few times and finally found someone who listened to me.

I had similar symptoms and it turned out i have lupus and fibromyalgia. Lupus is hard to diagnose since the ana test doesnt always come back positive. Look up both of these and see if they r close to what ur experiencing. It is a disease that can be delt with and u definitely need to make changing docs a priority!

You need to see someone else. I understand being busy but that is not something you want to put off.

I agree...keep pressing for answers. It could be many things, really.
The fact that your white cells were a bit high, does give the suggestion your body is fighting something as white cells increase to fight infection.

Good luck hun!

I didn't know the ANA isn't very accurate. I got tested for it a few years back when I had the same symptoms as OP. Only thing that came back pos was my EBV, so we figured I had a weird strain of that. Still having bad pain and joint issues, I'm gonna see if I can get more extensive testing

It took over 5yrs before ana showed up positive. I was diagnosed with it thru symptoms and other tests, like me blood coagulation rate and such things, i have a great rheumatologist. I went undiagnosed for 10yrs cause i was young, for me my fibro is beyond severe and the lupus stays active most of the time. If docs would have taken my symptoms seriously i woukd not be near as bad cause the diseases have been treated earlier. It is so important to keep at it and if need be change ur doc.

My flair up was about 4 years ago. I've never been right since. I'm definitely going to the Dr next week to get bloodwork and whatever else done. Back then all my symptoms matched, I was actually slightly disappointed when it came back neg, because noone knew what was wrong with me.

Thats how i felt for 10yrs. Docs sometimes think they r gods and know everything and r never wrong. Push u too OP push and change docs till u get really answers and relief.
