Shoot, I learned my lesson when I got a spanking. I rarely got spanked and didn't continue that certain act/behavior after the spanking. My girls are the same way, I rarely have to spank them but when I do they don't continue the act/behavior. I don't want to spank at all, it makes me feel bad but when other methods are continuineing to fail and their act/behavior just keeps on after I have tried everything else, then YES I am gonna spank and it works for me. Like I said spanking is NOT the only method I use(and is used rarely)....BUT I will use it AFTER other methods fail. I am not gonna keep doing the same thing over and over and its not working. Sometimes a serious tone of my voice, a timeout,etc works BUT sometimes it doesn't, and when it doesn't I spank.

I haven't either. I always hear about these calm spankings ("This hurts me more than it hurts you, this is what you did wrong and this is why") but I've never seen one. I've seen some pretty extreme ones and some less extreme ones but they've always been while the parent is frustrated or angry. And I always hear that it's the last option but it's always the first threat I hear out of people's mouths "Do you want a spanking? Then get over here/sit down/stop touching that" etc.

I don't threaten with a spanking first. Like if Elly is doing soemthing she shouldn't be, I'll say " Elly stop, please don't do that, " if she doesn't listen.. I'll say " Elly, Mommy has asked you to not do that bc its wrong/not nice/mean/rude(depending what she's doind) and if you continue you are gonna get into trouble" If she doesn't listen then its a time out for 5 mins, and IF she continues after a timeout, she gets a spanking. But it usually doesn't go past "your gonna get in trouble"

Now I have seen it really bad. I was at the bakery about 2 wks ago, a lady is there with her 2 kids.. they are probally 4 and 6 (boys) well they kept poking the bread, after she said stop twice ,and the 3rd time time she says...well kinda yells "If YOU 2 DON'T STOP I AM GONNA BEAT YOUR SmUrfING ASS RIGHT HERE!" They did stop for a few mins and then kept on, she grabbed them by their hands and walked fast to the car without buying break/snacks. I just don't agree with talking to children like that...but I guess for some pple its just words*sighs*

I believe in using any physical punishment/discipline as a last resort.

I was spanked and I spanked. Spanking is not abuse but can be abusive.

i was spanked as a child . i do believe in spanking, but hardly do it i try tons of things that i learned in parent classes. or other educational classes..
