my boys dont care if it disappoints me or not.
so thats dosent work in my household.

I believe I know the difference between abuse and spanking.

Abuse, in the spanking case, is closed hand or hit repeatedly causing severe physical harm.

what about emotional harm? do you think it does nothing psychologically to a child whose caretaker inflicts pain on them?

I'll spank if needed. We don't jump right to it, though.

We started at a young age with "please don't do that or mommy/daddy will be sad, *add the dramatic sad face for effects." Kids don't want to see their parents sad so they will tend to correct their own behavior.

I'm not a fan of scare tactics, for anyone or any situtation.

When I have kids, I will use spanking as a last resort.

Negative discipline how? Yelling and hitting? yes, I would agree with that. Making them do extra chores, taking things away? Time outs? Redirection for younger children? Not so much.

my boys are still young. (5, 3 and 2)
so we are trying to do the "disappointed" thing...
the youngest 2, just act like they have no idea what im saying.
we do the time out, taking toys away, when my oldest acts up and dosent listen, we take his privlidges away,
then there times when they will purposely do something and ill pop their butts. i dont spank them alot or use it as my first resort.
i think my boys are just hard headed and have major major attitude issues.
