We dont spank here, I dont see a use for it. It doesnt teach my son anything but to fear me.

I know the difference between spanking and abuse though.


I was beat and spanked as a child, it also had no bearing on how I decided to raise my kids.

We do not do spankings and my son has gotten comments out in public of how well behaved he is.

Time out has worked amazingly for us.

Not in my opinion. I'd prefer people who do things because they're right, or don't do things because they're wrong. Not to avoid punishment or gain a reward.

I don't agree with that at all. If your children fear you when they are little, they won't come to you with real problems when they are older.

The way it worked for me growing up was, "oh, if I do this, my parents will be disappointed, I probably shouldn't".

I prefer this over the fear of getting spanked. That will only work until the child is a certain age.

I disagree with spanking.

Disappointing my parents was worse than a spanking to me.
