What do you do when

posted 8th Oct
Your kids dad has nothing to do with them, had a smurffy relationship with them anyways and is not in the picture at all. He's seen them 5 or 6 times since February of this year.

And the oldest asks questions?

Also, when being in a serious relationship with someone else, what do you do when your toddler keeps referring to him as "dad"

:/

Their dad signed rights over to me fully.

If he signed over his rights, why is he seeing them at all??

I don't know about the questions, that would be hard. Normally I would say be honest, but I don't know if that applies in this situation.

I just don't know how to respond to her. She says "Bye daddy" or "wheres daddy".
He is totally ok with it

However it makes me a nervous wreck

The times he saw them was before paperwork was final just the other day.

He totally is
He gets them up and helps for school, reads to them, helps with homework, and not to mentions works to pay half of our bills that we combine. He goes to school functions and loves them to bits. He's so good with them. And thank you   I agree. I have the best chemistry with him. He is everything I've ever wanted in a partner.

Ohh I see.
Well, if you feel like the relationship you're in now is going to be long term, and you're both okay with your kids calling him Daddy, I say go with it.

If he has no rights to the children, the dad thing wouldn't bother me. If your SO doesn't mind, I think it's good that he is looking up to someone in that role - but, if things don't work out between you two then it could be even more devastating to your LO.
