My ears got infected when my mom had them pierced. Should she be charged with child abuse??

And, the child is 11 not 2!

You can get really nasty infections from piercing ears as well but as someone already pointed out that's perfectly legal at any age and most of the time you do have to hold a kid down to pierce them.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. She obviously should be charged. As far as the punishment, idk. Community service, a fine and maybe a parenting class. I also agree with the law.
Tattoos are permanent so I do think children should be making that type of decision.

It says her her inlaws probably reported her after she pressed charges against her ex fil, I wonder what he did :s

She could get an infection from.getting her ears pierced or going to the park and playing with other kids or running in the driveway and falling and cutting her knee. Should the mom get jail time for those offenses too?

Quoting ☮Sugar Magnolia:" How is it abuse when the kid ASKED for it. A lot of 18 year olds are too immature for tattoos and get ... [snip!] ... kid asked for it. She didn't hold her down and tattoo her against her will. Therefore, not abuse. Just breaking tattooing laws."

I've brought up the ear piercing thing before. I have two horribly placed holes in my ears from when I was an infant and know for a fact that they never go back to normal. I can't see how that's any different.

yea, because that is not PERMANENT.

It was stupid and I think she should be fined but jail time is ridiculous. Parents have the option to modify their kids bodies in a couple ways from birth at least this kid was old enough to ask for it.

Ya, overcrowded, you are acting like she is going to get several years in prison or something. A night in jail, a fine, some classes, community service ALL is needed...can't slap this bitch on the wrist, then tons of dumb smurfs will be tattooing their kids.

Why would anyone compare a tattoo, to a piercing?

The marks and any damage you get from them messing up are. Trust me I know.

Bullsmurf. The fact that you can take the earrings out doesn't mean the holes aren't there to stay. I didn't wear earrings from 3-12 and only wear them one in a blue moon since turning 18 and my holes have never closed up or disappeared.

They're both forms of body modification.

So lets also compare playing outside with kids, to getting a tattoo at 11   no wonder she did it, so many people think its ok and thinks she could get away with it.

Uhm, yeah they are.
Every piercing I've ever had, including my ears, has left a scar.

As with 98% of people who's piercings close.

And, if you want to get technical, you can have tattoos removed.
