Okay a day time talk show made me think.....if YOUR 16 year old DD or DS was in a relationship (sexual and legal according to the state law) with a 41 year old what would you think of the 41 year old?

As long as they are under my roof they abide by my rules and they wouldn't be allowed to see each other

Its still illegal, there can only be a 3 year gap under the age of 18 even if consent is 16

I have an almost 16 year old son.

I would not condone the relationship and I would do everything I could to keep it from continuing. This child is still my legal responsibility for 2 more years and will follow my house rules. The 41 year old would not be allowed in our house nor would my son be allowed at their house.

And I would think the 41 year old was a pedophile and needed some sort of help.

I would be pissed but I wouldn't try to break them up because to me it might just lead my child to distance from me. I would guide him/her and makes sure I do anything to protect her by having their full trust. If it is legal, there is nothing that will separate them. The child can easily run away, want to emancipate and it'll just probably ruin my child's future.

No it isn't....the couple live in Kansas and it is completely legal.

ETA: The dad had tried to pursue legal measures and was told it was completely legal. Plus the show researched and also said it was legal. Disgusting but legal.

love is love, theres no limits to it.

But as a mature women (34) I dont get how a women my age or older can think its 'okay' to hook up with someone around 20.
At 20 you have no clue where you're going, and lest of all how you're going to get there and what it takes.

When you get in your 30's you have a whole new outlook.

I wouldnt want to make a 20 year old grow up to my level, miss out on things or work harder then they need to.

But thats me. I work with a boy whos 23 and is with a 41 year old. They live together and she has a 4 year old. I couldnt do it.

My 16 year old would not be allowed to see this person. And in my state, I don't believe it's legal. I think they would have to be at least 18. I'd think that he was a pedophile. He could have children that age of his own... that's smurfed....

Not every state. There's a couple on vh1 couples therapy and they got married when she was 16 & she's now 17. If it was my child would have no business with him or her. When they are 18 that's their business but I still wouldn't approve.
