Yeah I would never just he like oh hey you're 37 weeks and sick of being pregnant try this lmao. But for post date mamas or women facing medical induction its worth a try. And it might be a good idea to give your mw/doc a heads up. I don'tknow for sure but I don't think it works if your baby or.body aren't at least somewhat prepared.. kinda like pitocin.

Yes I think so too. When I was in the hospital to be induced, I had felt no BH, and hadn't seen my mucous plug or had any signs of labor and my cervix was shut tight.
They gave me the cervidil or whatever and were going to give me pitocin in the morning. Next thing I know my water broke and I was in full on labor. Thank god I didn't end up getting the pitocin because those contractions HURT.
I'm sure castor oil would have probably worked just as well, my body was just waiting for something, anything haha.
Now that I won't have access to hospital drugs this time around, I'm definitely willing to try this if I need to!

what purpose does the vodka serve?

definitely. I won't consider doing this unless I am way OD and/or my water starts leaking

It makes it ao that tue castor oil does not give you diarrhea.

I'm so happy I did it. There is such a stigma around it. I probably would have done pitocin this week if I hadn't done the oil. I was just getting way too freaked out. My midwife has seen it happen before ao wasnt as worries, but she has to think of whats best for her reputation. I mean letting a client go a week with theor water leaking is pretty hardcore, maybe not the best for her reputation top, kwim?

I tried castor oil at 41 weeks with Aaliyah but it didn't work...still ended with no dilation and a c-section. Damn my body.

Before castor oil was discovered in plants it was extracted from beavers groin. Castor is Latin for beaver. Just a random fun fact I found from Wiki'ing castor oil. Glad you didn't have to drink a beaver's groin/vodka cocktail

That is interesting, but more importantly, I want to know why vaginas are called beavers....

I'm thinking because vaginas have giant teeth like beavers. >.>
