Gender diasppointment

posted 8th Oct
Well ladies I need some words of wisdom.... I went for my ultrasound last Thursday and im happy to report that all is well with baby. We also got to see that we are having baby girl.

I had my heart set on a boy and just never imagined myself having a little girl. I love my baby just the same but how can i overcome these feelings of disappointment that it is not a boy? I feel selfish and ungrateful because I should be thankful that the baby is healthy and that I can become pregannt when some people unfortunately can't.
I just want to overcome these feelings before the baby is born

Have any of you ladies ever felt the same? If so, how do i overcome this?

You get used to it. It may take some time. It took a few months after finding out with my son. Eventually when he started having kick patterns, and rolling around I got over it. The 3D ultrasound helped too

As selfish as it seems, I am wishing for a girl and I keep having little daydreams about the DR telling me it's a boy and being somewhat disappointed. As a momma to be who TTC for a awhile before getting my BFP I feel AWFUL for even thinking I would be disappointed but OF COURSE I would be delighted with ANYTHING God gives me

Oh man. I have nothing nice to say to you.
Just be happy you to have a health baby.
I thought you were going to say " I already have 4 girls/ boys"
Let me help you get over it - read profiles of couples who can't have their own kids. Also, read, watch YouTube of some disabled or sick kids..

Ahhhhhhhhh!

These feelings are normal. For me personally, it wasn't an issue. But I know it is for lots of women. You have this thought in your head for a long time of what your life will be like with the gender you want. And then all of the sudden that changes at a time when you are very hormonal.

Maybe look at all the baby girl things out there, so many cute things, start talking about names, and exciting things like that. Also, don't be too hard on yourself!

Once you hold her, your world will change

Just because other couples can't have kids or have disabled kids doesn't mean she's not allowed to feel things during her pregnancy. It's normal.

I think this was a bit uncalled for. She isn't disappointed to be pregnant, and what she is feeling is completly normal. I think she was looking for support, knowing her feelings were a bit harsh, so bashing isn't really necessary!

This is exactly how I felt. I already had a girl and wanted another girl. Found out I was having a boy. Now, I think I want another boy if we ever have another lol

she has a point there. Like I said I first thought that she had 4-5 girls and found out she was having another girl but this is her first baby come on.
