Meningitis vac

Since there is an outbreak, would my two year olds pedi give him a vac early?

The outbreak is linked to a bad batch of steroid shots. If your kid isn't getting steroid shots then I wouldn't worry about it.

Is this in regards to the outbreak from the steroid injections? If it is, that Meningitis is not contagious, as far as I've read. I may be wrong.
If you have an actual out break in your area, I would ask, just to be on the safe side.

Yea if you are referring to the outbreak in the news it is fungal and not contagious.

My eldest doesn't get steroid injections, he takes a steroid for his lungs though.

You don't need to worry. The steriod shot was given to cerain sick people, the shot was give in the spine, atleast thats what the news said. It was a bad batch and that is whats causing it.You're only at risk if you have recieved that shot.

seems like every time i turn around theres something new to inject my kids with, now thats scary! i dont vax, so im totally out of the loop on whats new,whats been recalled, and whats been taken off the market.

I wouldn't want the meningitis virus in myself or my child. Seems like it would be more likely to cause meningitis than to prevent it. Like the one time I was pressured into getting a flu shot...then I got the flu  .

I know it has been out for at least 12 years now because it was a required vaccination for college students that were living in dorms.

12 years? Geez, it's been a long time since college...

This vaccine is not a live virus.
