DS is a week old today, and his left eye is a little goopy. Would it be alright to wipe it gently with a warm cloth?

Yes, that's fine. It's probably a clogged tear duct. Get a warm cloth and gently massage the corner of his eye in a circular motion. Keep an eye on it. If it doesn't clear up, call his pedi.

someone told me if you breast feed to squirt a little in his eye to help

DD had blocked tear ducts that plagued her until she was 2. A warm cloth will do.

DD just had this 2 days ago. Doc had me do a warm wash cloth for 5 mins every 1-2 hours and it was gone the next day.
