What was the dumbest thing your parents ever told....

And you actually believed it...


Mine has to be when I was about 7. I noticed that My Great-Grandma's sister Dee (My Auntie Dee)was not married and didn't have kids. I asked my dad
"Dad, Why didn't Auntie Dee get married and have kids?"

Dad; "because there were not enough men back when she was young, so she didn't get to get married"

I just figured okay and forgot about it

I learned years later, Auntie Dee was a lesbian and lived in a small house behind her sisters house with her girlfriend and had for longer then I was born!! LOL

And my mom told me if I kept doing it I would get worms.

And she said if I ate styrofoam cups I would grow glass in my belly and die pooping it out  

Needless to say, I did neither of those things ever again.

When I was younger whenever we would be in the car I would ask my mom where we're going.. and she would say "crazy". And most of the rime we went to the bank so everytime we went to the bank I would think we're going to "crazy" Hahaha

My dad told us that the little white tiny pieces of celery were poisonous, as well as the leaves.

And my mom told me she waited until she was 18 to have sex. LIES lol

ETA: oh yeah, also: my dad had a kidney removed when he was 4 and has this extremly ugly zig-zagged thick scar going around his side. We were told that a 6-headed dragon bit him in the stomach.

My mom didn't really tell me anything dumb, but my grandfather told me that all the photos in his albums were in black and white because the world was in black and white and color came around in his lifetime. He really had me believing that for years, he lived in black and white and woke up to a colorful world one day.

That if you kill a spider, all the other spiders come to kill you in your sleep to avenge their fallen brother.

I still don't kill spiders. And if one accidentally dies, I loudly apologise so all spiders in the vacinity can hear that it was an accident. No joke.

I can't really think of one my parents told me, but my older brother convinced that liquid soap was tasty so I ended up taking a big huge lick of it off my hand.

I was like 25 and I convinced my self the apples in a candle was real, so I dug it out and to "prove" it was a real apple I bit into it!! Umm Yeah it was pure wax!!

My mother told me she dated Enrique Iglesias father in high school, I went to school and told all my friends. :|

I used to swallow gum when I was little, when my parents noticed they told me that every time I swallowed gum, they would build up inside and once my stomach was full of gum I'd start sticking to things. I never swallowed gum after that.

around 6 or 7 i used to love eating hot chips, my mom said that if i kept eating it that i would get a big black hole in my stomach   i just started eating them again in the begging of my freshman year.
