Junk food in the house

posted 7th Oct
If you were starting a strict diet that called for no junk food would you expect DH/SO to respect the diet and not bring any junk food in the house to help you stick to your diet?
ETA: this is an informational opinion question. I went shopping with SO today and he was great about helping and encouraging me what healthy foods to get and he only got one box of lil debbies that I don't even eat so its not a problem. It just popped into my head and I like polls lol

No, part of a "strict diet" is self-control.
You shouldn't expect others (SO or not) to not eat something they want just because you can't.

Honestly, irrational me would say yes it would bug me if he knew I was on a strict diet and he did that. BUT reality is your the one on the diet not him so he shouldn't have to "suffer"

i'd let him have it. he won't always be there to tell you no when you're driving past your favorite fast food place.

I am kind of with everyone else on this, but its also important that you feel like he is supporting you and your decisions, so it really depends on how your relationship is.

The only junk food I allow in the house is birthday cake OR DH's frozen pizza. Any chips, coookies, etc. he keeps in his car.

I can't believe how many people are like "U just need self-control blah blah blah" A supportive partner wouldnt ask for a bunch of junk.

Because it's the right thing to do. If your partner was an alcoholic, would you binge drink in front of them? If they were trying to quit smoking, would you chain smoke in front of them? In most cases, that person will have plenty of opportunities to eat junk food outside of their house.

I agree, my SO isn't bringing soda or junk food in the house because he knows that if its in the house I'm going to want it too..

Yes and no. Husband wants me to lose weight too. If he brings junk food into the house he can't bitch about me not sticking to my diet, lol. So we have an agreement that we don't bring it into the house. He goes to work and eats out for lunch 5 times a week, and he can buy individual treats, but I don't want big bags of candy in the house. They aren't good for him, they aren't good for me, they aren't good for the kids.
