I was admitted several times since the birth of my daughter due to my heart issues. my heart was weakened after i gave birth to her. I am on strong BP meds and had to remain bed ridden for several weeks. They don't know if my heart will ever recover from the damage done but being as i was told I was going to stroke out and to get my affairs in order.....I am just thankful to be here at all.
Recovery has been hard but its slowly happening. I am 2 months pp now. Still not released from maternity leave and not sure when it will happen.
Just keep your head up and try to relax as much as you can. I know its hard and trust me I got really depressed because of being so sick but everyday I get alil stronger.

That sounds really scary. I don't think my case is as bad, but I'm in the hospital now on diuretics from water in my lungs and on heart meds. They said I will have to be on the heart meds for 4-6 months and on special diet etc and then recheck after that. It really sucks because they said I can't breastfeed while I'm on the heart meds. My son was doing so good with nursing I'm really upset about it but I know I need to take care of my heart. I hope you keep getting better soon.

Audrey, There are about 20 stories on the site. You will only see the public stories. To join is pretty easy, just click on the join link, accept the facebook application and then fill in the simple form. You can message me via facebook, if you have any questions. Hang in there. It's hard in the beginning, and I hope through reading the stories you will find your answers. I was diagnosed in July 2011 and was officially recovered to full normal heart function in June 2012.

Hi...Im a bit late replying to your post..I just joined and came across it. I was diagnosed with ppcm when I had my last child. He is nine years old now. I remember how scared I was. It was a long haul but after little over a year my heart was healthy again and I had fully recovered. I was on many meds and followed a low sodium diet. If you have any questions or what to talk with someone who has been down this path feel free to msg me. Hope your doing better!!
