re: Stylish Toddlers...

posted 7th Oct
If I like something I would buy it, regardless of the price. I'm not saying I'm rich or anything but .. I want my son to be the kid I never was. I want to give him everything. He's only going to be young once. I can't explain it but it's something like that.

yeah I agree. I don't spend a lot of money on clothes for my littlest cause she doesn't stay in a size for long... but my toddler fits in a 5 (growing room) which should last her for a while cause shes only 3

Eh.... if we were clothes shopping and my daughter wants a disney shirt, I get it for her because she specifically says she wants that shirt. I am not fond of Minnie Mouse stuff at all, but my daughter loves her and so she has some Minnie Mouse stuff. She also wears stuff that I like for her.
Letting them pick out some stuff you don't like doesn't harm anything. You still get to have your style, but they get to have some independence too.

A parent will dress their child in what they like so its natural for a kid to dress similar to their parent. My son walks around dressed just like his father. At least until the parent lets them decide what they want to wear.

I swear I only spend a lot because I have a boy. I buy almost all of his clothes at the Gap. I see cute girls clothes everywhere, Walmart, Target, etc. but those stores usually have really tacky huge pictures on the boys clothes and I don't like them.

Coming up on three. We've done this since she was a little older then 2, but in the last few months she's become more vocal in what she wants. I want her to have some independence, and it doesn't hurt me at all for her to wear things she likes (weather allowing). So I see no issue in her picking it out even if it's the last thing I'd EVER wear. I'm a total jeans and tshirt sort of girl and she's totally into pink, tutus, sparkles, everything like that.

I think some self expression and having some control over something as insignificant as clothing is good for her.

yeah she gets enough independence in other areas... and maybe when shes older I will let her start picking out her stuff..once she moves to the girls section... but right now shes attracted to crazy stuff that I could never bring myself to put her in lol

I've noticed that since I had my boy. Their clothes are limited, its annoying. I hate shopping for him lol.

Finish line always has sales online, on top of the Nike outlet and outlet malls. The most expensive pair of shoes my sons have gotten was $60 Jordan's and my eldest wore them three times before he outgrew them (I told his dad he was dumb or buying them). Needless to say, his brother wears them now.
