NC Rental Laws

Does anyone know if its against the law to rent a house without a heating system?

As far as I'm aware, heat and air are considered luxury, not necessity.

Doesn't NC get super cold?

My mom is a landlord in NC and she said its illegal to rent without heating but AC is a luxury

NC doesn't get thaaaat cold, unless you live in the mountains

You have to write a letter to the LL to fix the heating.

Did you rent it knowing thy it had no heating unit or is it just not functioning?

If the LL refuses to repair the heating unit you can fix it yourself and withhold rent until he repays you.
Or you can take him to court over the issue

Not a thing, she promised to have one installed when we first moved in and it hasnt happened. Our house isn't even finished, She still has all her crap in our master bedroom and comes and goes as she pleases.

You'll have to go to housing authority and report it..since she has t even installed one.
