I agree. I feel like if it's not a situation where the specifics matter, it isn't a big deal which words someone uses to convey general meaning.

if my ex asked me to pick up my kids for an extra day, I'd still NEVER call it babysitting my own kids.

It's no big deal and we didn't get into a pissy argument over it or anything. I just wanted to ask BG if they consider watching their own kids to be babysitting because I'd never heard someone use the word to refer to watching their own kids that they live with. I certainly won't be judging him too much on his use of the word, it just seemed an odd word to use. No major harm done I know. He is a great dad so it is just a word after all.

I would call it baby sitting if he is the kind of "father" who never sees his kid. *shrug*. The kind I wouldn't really call a father.
