Quoting SpaceCowgirl:" So you wanted him to say, "I can't, I'm being a parent tonight." ?"

"I can't, I have my son." would've been the better alternative, IMO.

My husband said, hum douche. You only call it babysitting when you're watching other people's kids.

Is he scared to drive with him in the car?

Ok so I just asked my hubby what he would say. He said " I can't I'm watching my son". Watching better than babysitting? =\ lol.

Quoting Emmiboo:" Having a D&D with a male friend of mine. The conversation went like this.... Me (on phone): Can ... [snip!] ... with you on that one...... So, if it is your own child that you're looking after, is it babysitting? Let the D&D begin."

It's not babysitting. haha. People say that all the time, but I'm like. . . if the child is yours, you aren't babysitting. Babysitting is watch a child FOR their parents. If you're the parent, then you're just, well, being a parent. haha

I can't stand when a 'parent' refers to it as that!! You're not baby sitting if it's your own kid!!!! Ugh!

My 7 year old biological father (who has been out of the picture since she was three months) once asked me if I was going to pay him to babysit when I needed him to watch my DD for about an hour while I dropped someone off at work...needless to say I laughed in his face. My DH would never call it babysitting.

That's funny lol.
My husband would laugh if another man said that about their own child.

*shrugs* well he is baby sitting, lol if he dosnt usually have the kid, *he's sitting at home with a kid*

I don't usually call it babysittinfg when any1 watches my kids, we just say they are spending night at _______ house. Even when we go out, my mom asks, "oh do I get the kids that night"

When I leave the kids with my husband when I go to work I set up their pajamas, food, and shower stuff in bathrooms and their cups of milk in fridge... then I remind him what he has to do like homework, reading, lol I treat him like a sitter and its their father haha

I call it babysitting sometimes when I'm with the LO's and have to tell someone I can't meet them or something, and I have my kids with me 24/7 lol.
I'm weird though. And it's quicker to say on the phone than "Sorry I can't, I'm looking after my kids."

It's just a choice of words. Unless the parent is expecting payment for watching the kids, I don't see the big deal.
