Pineapple

posted 7th Oct
We went to a hibachi restaurant the other night and they served us pineapple wedges after our meal and my son LOVED them. He asks for pineapple every single day now. I have no idea what to do with a fresh pineapple once I buy it...how long do they last? Do you cut it all up at one time and stick it in the fridge? Someone tell me what to do lol- I normally only eat pineapple when it's on my pizza ;)

If we buy fresh, we cut it all up and either put it in big ziploc bag a sealed bowl.

well buy one of the smaller ones you can find and cut it all up into pieces for him and you can store it in tupper ware---you can even freeze it for it to keep longer. Id say in tupper ware in the fridge itd probably last 5-7days

I cut them up right away, since they don't ripen more after being picked and can go bad. I freeze half of it, and keep the rest in the fridge. Fresh pineapple is much better than canned pineapple!

I'd rather him have fresh, we try to stay way from canned fruit since its packed in syrup or juice concentrate

Cans are also lined with BPA, so there's that as well.

Should I look for a firm one or a softer one?

When I get home from the grocery store I cut up pineapple, strawberries, grapes, kiwis, and I throw some clementines into a fruit salad. It typically sits in the fridge for 3 days until it's gone. LO gets some every day, I pack some up in DH's lunch, and I snack.

Firm, make sure the stem is not withering, and it has to smell sweet.
