Clothing Sizes for 4 year old in diapers

I'm trying to do some fall shopping for my daughter who will be 4 next month and I'm not sure what size to get. She is in diapers and weighs about 39 pounds. She's outgrowing her 4T's in the bottom area and I am not sure if I should get 4's, 5T's or 5s. She's pretty short and I'm afraid the 5's will be really long on her. Any advice on which size to get?

You might just have to take her to the store and try them on. All brands are mde differently as well.

Get a 5 and him (sp?) the legs to fit her?

Alterations are easy made with thread and can be undone just as easily.

5t. My understanding is that T sizes have extra room to accommodate diapers whereas the regular sizes don't.

You can also take her pants to a tailor and get them to take them in for you to. Its not that expensive and... perfect fit

I was kind of hoping to avoid that. lol She is not very cooperative.

If she is still in diapers I suggest 5T they are cut a bit more roomie in the butt. My 4 year old is in 5 because she does not need the space....

I dont know if diapers will make a difference, but my daughter is 4 and still wears a 4t. She is short so 5t is to long on her.

They just need to see her in them, pin them up and then she has perfect fitting pants!

that might be a problem. she still doesn't really understand instructions. maybe i'll just chance it with the 5t and hope they have a really forgiving return policy  

my daughter is 16 months and in a size 3t-4t with a cloth butt, so I would lean towards getting 5 t's if she is not going to pt anytime soon.

Cam is about the same size and in diapers and same age... and he's in a 4T with the adjustable waist.. you could always get a 5T with the adjustable waist and then roll the bottoms?
