8 month old, from bed to crib. help?

posted 7th Oct
Is there any of you mamas having trouble getting your 8 month old to sleep in their crib all night? My son will take naps in the crib during the day and will play in it. but he wont sleep it in all night. I made the mistake when he was younger to let him sleep with us and ever since he wants in our bed. At night when we rock him to sleep, we can put him in his crib and he will sleep in it for a couple hours but then he wants to wake up and get in our bed. Any suggestions? Maybe something that helped you transition your 8 month old from bed to crib? TIA

Dont give in, have soft music playing to relax him, if he keeps crying go and calm him every 15 minutes he will get used to it, I did the same thing with my son.

Do the same thing, it won't be an easy habit to break but the longer you go letting him stay in your bed the harder it will be to ever get him out, my son will be 2 in 2 weeks and he still sometimes crawls in my bed and I take him right back to his.

With my oldest we always started the night in the bassinet then the crib. Since I was nursing it was easier to pull him into bed with us and let him sleep there the rest of the night. When he started sleeping all night without nursing, he stayed the whole night alone in his bed (and yes it was right next to our bed as well). When he started teething, he started waking up at night so we just had him come back in bed with us and put him in his crib after he was done nursing. And when he got done with teething, he went back to sleeping all night in his bed. I think one or two nights we had problems where he didn't want to sleep in his bed just because but we just made him stay in his bed, rubbed his back, sand a song... And he fell back asleep. Now he is 20 months and sleeps in a toddler bed but will wake up early morning and come lay next to our bed until he is ready to get up for the day.

Basically enjoy the time and don't force the issue because it makes the situation worse. Start him in his bed and start a routine if you don't have one already (bath, last feeding, brush teeth, read a story or a song, bed). You just need to figure out what works best for you and your family, whether it is something you come up with on your own or an option that someone gave you

I agree, I'm not really into the CIO method. But to each their own   My son was actually 11 months before I tried to transition him. It was tough.

I hate the CIO method. My LO sleeps in bed with me and can for as long as she wants. I don't have a hubby or SO to worry about.
