Handwashing?

posted 7th Oct
DO any of you live in a household where others don't wash their hands often OR not properly and you have a new baby coming soon?

What do you do in that situation, I'm scared of her getting sick and winter is coming !

Carry around hand sanitizer, if they don't use it they can't hold the baby?

I have a toddler who "washes" her hands all by herself. She refuses help. I try to help her as much as possible though. Sanitizer is my friend along with lysol wipes.

If you didn't wash or sanitize your hands, I would not let you hold my baby. Some people got mad but I really didn't care. It takes 10 seconds to do either of the above.

Tell them to properly wash their hands or they can't hold him/her!

They think 5 seconds handwashing is good enough. That does not kill the germs and they flip if I complain. & If I say they will not be able to hold her if their hands aren't clean, there is a fight big enough to the point where they want to kick me out and call ME a brat for trying to protect my daughter from getting sick

If they use hand sanitizer they don't know how to use that properly either.

Hand sanitizer is actually worse for the baby & for people themselves.

What is the "proper" way to use hand sanitizer? lol, there's not much to it so I can't see how somebody can do that wrong too.

But honestly, I understand your worries with a newborn baby. But you can't (& shouldn't) protect your LO from ALL germs. She's bound to get sick eventually & it helps build their immune system.
But I mean, people should wash their hands after using the bathroom or being outside anyway. But I can't see making people wash their hands every single time they're going to be around the baby...

If they cough/sneeze into their hands I think they should be washing/sanitizing. Sickness usually just circles in this house when one person gets it. Im just scared because I seen my little cousin go to the hospital and almost die ! And because it's going to be winter when she's newborn, I would probably have to take her on public transit to get to any doctor.

If they only wash for 5 sec. regularly, how would I know if they're hands are ever clean when they hold her , even after the bathroom. They don't handwash when they come from outside (I do). The reason I have taken to washing my hands so often is because I noticed that nobody else does it properly or often.
