cant shake being sick?! poor baby.

My son is ten months.
And had been sick with a common cold for the past five weeks.
The doctors say it's viral and to let it ruin its course...
Is there any over the counter cold medicine I can give him for comfort??

Nope

there is nothing OTC (other than tylenol) you can give a child under age 2 for a cold

Just gotta let it run it's course

Vicks is good, steamy bathroom, humidifier, saline spray if his nose is gunked up

I don't understand why they are letting him stay sick for so long....

Cause it's a virus and there is nothing to be done about it. Antibiotics won't help at all (and could actually hurt) and there are no cold meds for kids under 2

it just has to work itself out.

It sucks though.

  overuse of antibiotics can create an immunity for when u need them the most.

Yeah ik. Its just been so long. I wish he wouldn't have to go to daycare all the time. I'm pretty sure that's why he keeps getting sick.

Cora has had a cough for about 2 weeks now. No other symptoms, just the cough. It's terrible

And think about it this way, everytime he gets sick, he is building his immune system. Which could mean less schools days missed due to illness

The coughing is what does it. Ugh.
One day I'm okay and the next, sick again.
Blah.
This morning I woke up and my uterus feels super sore, like I got beat up on the inside....but I'm only eight weeks and I'm thinking out had to be from coughing.

Yeah sometimes I cough and my stomache gets a Charlie horse  

You can give them Children's Benadryl for the stuffy nose, which in turns helps with a cough caused from postnasal drip. I've had 2 pedi's tell me it's ok and it really has been a lifesaver. I would only recommend using it at night tho b/c it makes them sleepy. The dosage is right under 3/4 tspn.
