How do you look back on your labour / birth?
posted 7th Oct
Just want to see if I'm the odd one out lol! All of the women in my family and my hubbys say they feel like crying when they think about how awful labour / birth was for them. All had different experiences from c-sections, epidurals and just gas and air. My birth didn't exactly go to plan (I wanted a waterbirth at a midwife centre and ended up at hospital stuck in bed on monitors with an epi that didn't work and gas and air they took away when it was time to push) yet I look back on it as an incredible yet (very!) painful experience that I hope i'll remember forever. So is it just me ladies or are my family the exceptions?

It was painful and terrifying, but the greatest day of my life. I think I would have had a better birth experience if my baby girl didn't come out blue and end up going straight to NICU. I hope I get to experience childbirth again, minus the NICU part.

Cord was rapt around my sons neck and had to go to the nicu to I hated it and it's really hard to say from my mouth so I don't talk about it :/

My daughters birth went no where near as planned. She almost died because they accidentally stopped her heart and I was two seconds away from getting an emergency c section, but thankfully, they got her back. But it all happened so fast, I guess I didnt really have enough time to be scared. I didnt even realize what could have happened until she was already brought back and I couldnt stop shaking.
Still one of the best experiences of my life.

My daughter was facing my left leg and I tore really bad. It took 45min to stitch me up and to quit bleeding.
With my son, I had a perfect labor. Contractions started 6:30 pm water broke 12:35am baby born 12:45am no rips, cuts or anything! I was up and ready to go a hour after he was here.

My experience was awesome except for when they lost her heart beat. Which I didn't know about til later that day. They had just gotten the OR ready for a c section when she finally came out. Also she didn't cry right away and it wigged me out. But they started pitocin the 23rd of July, nothing. Next day, no progress. Once they broke my water at almost 7pm things started moving along. My daughter was born at 2:45am on July 25th.
Oh, I had pre eclampsia and that's why I wad induced. Usually the hospital I went to don't induce. Another side note, she was born on her due date

I loved every second of labor and delivery. I got an epi so I was able to enjoy and have a good time.

Traumatic, I was uneducated about my choices as was induced 2 days over 40 weeks and after about 30 hours with no progression and my sons heart rate dipping while I was flipped and flopped around in the bed on oxygen, with a failed epidural, I ended up in for a c section and once they did my spinal it paralyzed my diaphragm and I stopped breathing and ended up with an emergency c section and didn't get to see my son until the next morning but thankfully we were both fine- we questioned for a few years whether we even wanted more children because of our birth experience

Mine was really upsetting. I went through labor for 4 days with no progress finally they induced me I never made it past 5 cm and had to have an emergency c-section. Her head was turned and the side of her head was going through my cervix. I was devastated I wanted to have a natural birth so bad. I went through induction for 18 hours 14 of them unmedicated. I also didn't get to hold her right away they didn't even want to show her to me her father wouldn't let them out of the room with her until I saw her so they gave me 10 seconds and took her away. Then in recovery I got her for 30 seconds before they came in and said I was shaking to bad from the morphine and surgery and took her to the NICU for an hour. Just thinking about it makes me upset I feel like I had something taken away from me

Thinking about it now I'm proud at how well I done!
Waters went at 2am on the 18th, got given a pessary (I think?) at 8pm as contractions hadn't started. By 8.10pm was having painful contractions but only pain relief I had was paracetamol until 6am on the 19th when I got checked and was 7cm. From then on had gas and air to 10cm, started pushing at 10.30am but by 1.30 got told I'd have to have an emergency section as my little boy had turned as I was pushing. 2.10pm he was out . He's now a beautiful 7 week old grumpy baby!

My labor and delivery didnt go as planned but it wasnt that bad for me. people tell me im crazy when i tell them that it wasnt that bad i was in labor for three hours, all natural but had internal and external monitors and a tube that put water back inside my uterus becuase DS's heartrate kept droping. the yoga ball was my life saver. i was told at after i hadmy baby that i was one of there easiest people to deal with becuase i never made a noise the entire time. the nurse stayed with me the entire time cuz of his HR, i told her i had to push and she didnt believe me cuz "i wasnt i that much pain" it hurt but i was able to tune everything out and just focus on breathing and moving on my ball.
