The boys were born at 33 weeks. I can answer specific questions if you have them, but I'm not good at just telling about them.

How long where they in the nicu? What health issues did they face?

No NICU time. We were only in the hospital 4 days (because I wasn't released, not because of them). Health issues... They couldn't eat & breath at the same time at first, which we were taught a certain way to feed them, and all was fine. They were bottle fed from birth... Eating between 5 and 10 mL a time (our goal was for 8mL a time, but we rarely made it). They couldn't regulate their body temps well, so we had to keep them bundled up, all the time. They had jaundice, but not bad enough were they had to go under the lights... Just putting them in the window was fine.

Jake wasn't breathing when he came out, but his Pedi used a BVM on him, and he started breathing on his own. Other than that, they've reached several of their developmental milestones later that most full term babies, but that was to be expected. They're 15 months old now, and still can't stand unassisted. Our next Dr appt is this Thursday, and I'm hoping we get answers to that, and get them into therapy, if they need it, but at their last appt he wasn't worried about that yet, either. Any more?

His lungs were actually amazing! He was never on respirators, or any sort of breathing help. And I never had any steroid shots.

How long were they in the hospital? Did they come home with you?

They were there 4 days. They would've gotten discharged after 2 days, but the meds they gave me to stop labor put me on my ass, and they wouldn't let me leave until I could keep food down... Took me 4 days to be able to keep a glass of milk down. I had 1 steroid shot 2ish hours before my c section, so they didn't have time to take affect, in case you needed to know that.

For like 3 minutes right after he was born. but then they took him to the NICU to check everything on him. And I had a bunch of crap going on with me, so I didn't get to see him again until about 6 hours after birth.

All they kept telling me was that they were going to go to a bigger hospital & I would be stuck were I was. They had lifeflight on standby & everything. Scareist things I've ever gone through, but birthwise, honestly no problems. You couldn't look at them now & tell they were even early.
