The Promise Ring
posted 6th Oct
Did you ever get one? What would you do if your SO presented you with a ring, and then told you it was a promise ring?
Honestly, I think they are a little high school. If you get someone a ring, why not wait and make it the "big" one?
What do you think? Are they cool or are they cheesy?

I do think that it is something for younger couples, like high school or right out of high school since being engaged is a pretty big deal. I think it's cute to a point. But after a certain age I think that if you plan on getting married, just get engaged lol

I think they're a waste of time. It's like a guy telling you "well I like you enough to want to keep you around but not enough to marry you". Unless you're in highschool like you said I honestly don't see the point.

Eh, idk I think it's cute but kinda silly. I got a ring for my birthday last year and was like . People kept asking if it was an official ring and I was like, umm no . It's a really pretty ring, but it's nt an engagement ring, lol hopefully I'll get one soon though!

heck no, I would never take a promise ring. What, I promise I like you, for now.
No thanks. I would explain though to my SO that any in general would should love but lets not call it anything other than a gift.

My SO got me one the first Christmas we had together. I thought it was incredibly sweet, but I'm super cheesy and like stuff like that. Lol
ETA: We were 18 and 19 at the time.

i got one. it was a promise that we'd get engaged someday. and then we were on a short break (with plans to better ourselves for our child and get back together) so i gave it back to him. by the time we got back together (two weeks later) he had sold it. so nice.

I'm with (most) of you ladies. I'd be seriously pissed off and take offense to it. I wouldn't want a ring unless it was an engagement ring. Or after we're already engaged and married. I wouldn't be expecting a ring then.

I got one. He said "I promise to one day be able to afford a real gold diamond ring to replace this one." It was silver and amethyst.

DH got me one for our first Christmas together. It was his way of showing that he was serious and not going anywhere. He was saving for my engagement ring and plotting how he would ask me. Lol.

My boyfriend/ baby daddy got me a promise ring that I absolutely love its a ring that says <3 2 <3 and has diamonds around both of the hearts, and I also got my boyfriend a promise ring that he always wears which is titanium. I dont think theyre cheezy at all. They mean a promise from one person to another. They dont always have to mean "I promise to marry you" they can mean anything.

I would've loled had my husband given me one. It's endearing but a bit childish, I think.
