On going cough?

My son has had a cough for about a weekish now. Well I just heard from my mom tonight that he still has the cough plus now he has a low grade fever...

When would you make it a concern to take him to the doctor?

Oh btw he is 5.

The sooner the better probably. I was congested and had a cough for like 3 weeks and I thought it was nothing but it turns out my body was just trying to fight it and I ended up with walking pneumonia.

My nephew is 5, too. He actually wound up with croup. The gave no medication for it and it got worse. He was running a 103 the other day, so it turned into bronchitis. He's FINALLY getting better.

If the cough and fever doesn't fade or worsens by Monday, definitely call the doctor.

Same. Except..I was in the ER with bronchitis and pleurisy a few nights ago. The smurf is horrid.

Thats what I was thinking. But I didnt want to take him in for nothing lol. But if he isnt better by monday or tuesday, Ill take him to the doctor.

Sounds like a plan, they may not do anything for him at this point anyways.

Is the cough kind of like a "barking" cough?

Same for my nephew. Even after seeing the ER when his lips were turning purple from lack of oxygen...and then seeing a doctor and getting antibiotics..His cough is still terrible. He was out of school last week for a concussion...and then again for this sickness! It seems like kids are getting sick and not getting better as quick as they used.

Yes, like he has a bunch of gunk in the back of his throat. Sometimes when he coughs he coughs flem up and he tells me that he has to go "throw up" lol.

The barking cough is usually associated with croup. My nephew literally woke up in the middle of night, with the barking cough, and his lips turned purple and was rushed to the ER!

If you do take him to the doctor, be sure to make sure they give him some sort of antibiotic. They say there is no cure or antibiotic that can help, but every case I've seen lately has turned into bronchitis or pneumonia!

I hope he feels better soon! Lo just got over a 2 1/2 week cold. It's going around :/
